BALCO was incorporated in year 1965 as the first Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in India and since then it has been closely associated with the Indian Industrial Growth, in a pivotal role. In 2001 Govt. of India disinvested 51% shares of Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) to Sterlite Industries Limited a subsidiary of Vedanta Limited. Balco’s Aluminium production capacity is 5.70 LTPA and Power generation capacity is 2010 MW.

BALCO is one of the leading wire rod manufacturers in the world. Our mills are fully equipped with in-line degassing and filtration systems to ensure good internal metal quality and cleanliness. BALCO produces Primary Aluminium ingots that are re-melted to produce a variety of end products covering the entire spectrum of aluminium applications using the state of art technology. BALCO is equipped to deliver high quality rolled products in segments with application in automobiles, insulations, bus bars, power projects, electrical, packaging etc. BALCO supplies Primary Foundry alloys in many industry segments. The casting facility has metal treatment facilities of Degassing & Metal Filtration Unit & Vertical Chill Casting Technology for AlSi.

Covid Response

BALCO has designed and implemented awareness campaign across villages and supported the administration in fighting COVID-19 by providing them with medicines and PPE kits. It has also established a 100 bedded Balco Field Hospital at Naya Raipur. The BALCO Cares Field Hospital project is an initiative of Anil Agarwal Foundation. BALCO has also developed a 100-bed isolation ward at ESIC hospital, Korba and a 100-bedded COVID Care Centre at Balconagar equipped with required infrastructure and medical staff to provide proper care and treatment to the affected. BALCO has mobilized its resources and distributed sanitization kits to over 14000 households benefitted around 40,000 people in the community. More than 125 women associated with various Self Help Groups have stitched 70,000+ mask under BALCO’s CSR Project Unnati, which has given them an additional source of income amid the pandemic.
